City of Deming Pit Park Interstate 10 Enhancement

White Sands completed construction of the Pit Park recreational area. Improvements included the installation of several thousand feet of walkway along Pine Street through and around an old materials pit that had become an eyesore over the years because it was used as a trash dump. Street access to an amphitheater, a paved parking lot with area lighting, a pavilion, restrooms, and landscaping were included in the completed park. The project received the Highway and Transportation Department's Environmental Quality Award for best project statewide.
